Arctic Monkeys Biggest Selling 'Indie' Album Of 2006
|
|
Figures released in the last few days have shown that Arctic Monkeys debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' managed to shift 900,000 copies.
The band - currently signed to independant label Domino - recorded the fastest-selling debut album of all time which also went triple platinum.
Although the album was beaten by Snow Patrol's 'Open Eyes', the Northern Irish/Scottish 5-piece are signed to major label.
2006 was almost a revival for 'Indie' music as almost a third of all gold albums (100,000 sales or more) and more than two-thirds of silver albums (60,000 sales or more) were by artists signed to Independant labels. |
