'Leave Before The Lights Come On' B-Sides |
|
The covers for the new Arctic Monkeys single 'Leave Before The Lights Come On' have been confirmed.
As you may remember, we recently reported that the two b-sides to the single were both going to be covers - one an old song and one a song by one of their favourite groups.
Now, the legend famous for putting up "those" demos on the internet all that time ago, running the official website and being a good friend of Arctic Monkeys, known simply as 'The Sheriff', has confirmed to us what the two b-sides are.
The 60's song will be
'Baby I'm Yours' by Barbara Lewis
and the cover by one of their favourite groups will be
'Put Your Dukes Up, John' by The Little Flames.
Incidentally, both of these songs are sang by females. |

Arctic Monkeys to Save Our Schools? |
|
Sarah Teather, the Liberal Democrat Shadow Education and Skills Secretary MP is arguing a case against exam board Edexcel, who are looking to stop running their Music Technology A Level - a course which the Arctic Monkeys took.
She argued:
"Edexcel should be looking to increase choice and opportunity for young people, not reduce it.
The Edexcel website still boasts that members of the Arctic Monkeys studied Music Technology at A-level. Edexcel should reflect on the success of that band and reconsider their proposal to close the door on future rock stars, technicians and composers.
I hope the glare of publicity will make them consult on the issue more widely and come to a less abrupt decision. Creative subjects such as music are vital for a well-rounded education.
Music technology is a study very distinct from music and is a field that is growing in both popularity and career opportunities." |

Carl Barat Gives Arctic Monkeys Fashion Tips |
|
Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat has revealed that he and his fellow bandmates gave Alex Turner and co some fashion advice.
The bands met up in Scotland at the weekend during T in the Park. Barat said:
"We did give the Arctics some fashion advice. It was regarding a particular golf top that Alex was wearing.
"We do get on with Alex and the rest of the guys, but we do like to take the piss out of them too."
And it was only a few days ago that Alex Turner was spotted in his local Primark outlet - shopping for polo shirts! |

Andy Wants to Return? |
|
Ex-Arctic Monkeys bass player Andy Nicholson is said to be begging for a chance to return to the band, after being kicked out only a few weeks ago.
According to The People a source close to Andy and the rest of the band, has revealed that "fatigue" may not have been the only reason they split and told the paper:
"He has been begging to come back, but Alex has said No.
"Andy is devastated. The band was his life and now he has nothing.
"While the others have been performing all over the world, Andy has been moping around in Sheffield.
"There was a falling out. They need to sit down and sort out their differences.
"Who knows? Maybe there is still a chance of Andy returning." |
