Arctic Monkeys Miss Out On EMAs |

Less than a few days after scooping a double honour at the 2006 Q Awards, Arctic Monkeys failed to win at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Although the band were only in two categories which contained stiff competition, many would have fancied the 'Monkeys to win either of the two categories they were in - Best Alternative and UK and Ireland Best Act.
Best Alternative was awarded to Muse who fought off competition from large bands such as Korn, System of a Down and The Raconteurs as well as Arctic Monkeys.
The Kooks, who have shared much success in 2006, not only beat Arctic Monkeys and Muse, but saw stopped hot new acts Corinne Bailey Rae and Lily Allen to scoop the award for UK and Ireland Best Act.

Two Scoops For Arctic Monkeys at Q Awards |

Arctic Monkeys stole the show alongside Oasis at the 2006 Q Awards yesterday - bagging two gongs each.
Prior to the awards ceremony which took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Arctic Monkeys were already leading the nominations, with four to their name, and managed to win two of the more prestigious awards: Best Album and the People's Award.
Meanwhile, Oasis received a double honour after being named the
Best Act In The World Today and Noel Gallagher was awarded the Classic Songwriter gong.
Speaking about his brother Liam, who did not turn up to the ceremony, Noel quipped:
"He’s gone to the zoo. The monkeys are bringing their kids to go and have a look at him."
"I guess I really should thank our kid for singing all these great songs but as he’s not here, fuck him."
And, sticking to the Q Awards faith, Alex Turner didn't miss out the chance to cause a bit of a stir, as he stated:
A lot of people make jokes about having awards for no reason just for the sake of having awards, and pretending they were good when they weren’t,” he said."
"I’m not old enough to know a lot of them but even I know that Take That were bollocks!"

But on a serious note, Arctic Monkeys didn't shy away from their excitement, posting on the official website:
We’ve had such a great year and are really enjoying ourselves. The Q Awards carry a lot of prestige amongst musicians, so we’re chuffed to get best album and the People’s Award.

Arctic Monkeys Lead Q Award Nominations |

Arctic Monkeys are looking set to make a clean sweep at the 2006 Q awards after being nominated in 4 different categories.
The band have been nominated in the categories for Best New Act, Best Live Act, Best Album for 'Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not' as well as Best Track for debut Number 1 single 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor'.
As little as everyone [in the media] probably expected the lads are absolutely delighted with the nominations and expressed on their official website:
