Arctic Monkeys Break UK Debut Album Record |

First week album sales live up to hype.
The Arctic Monkeys debut album "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" lived beyond expectations and ont he first week became the fastest selling debut album ever.
The album went straight to number one in the first week and after selling 363,735 copies it managed to beat Hear'Say's debut album "Popstars", which sold 306,631 in one week to take the record back in March 2001.
However, the band failed to join the rare club of having both single and album at number one when last week's chart-topper "When The Sun Goes Down" was beaten second time around by Notorious BIG's "Nasty Girl".
Debut single "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" is still fighting strong, though, moving up one place to number 22 in the singles chart. Keep buying those records, people! |
