BRIT Awards Acceptance Speech |
|
We Are Scientists front man Keith Murray was surprisingly the man who accepted the "Best British Breakthrough Act" award at the 2006 BRIT Awards, won by Arctic Monkeys.
The awards took place on 15 February and saw Arctic Monkeys claim their first ever BRIT gong. However, the band were playing at Portsmouth as part of the NME Awards Tour and so were unable to attend the ceremony.
Therefore, a pre-recorded message was broadcast, which showed five people present - all four Arctic Monkeys and fellow tourmates We Are Scientists' very own Keith Murray - most likely as a prank and to cause confusion as Murray continually mentioned "We" during the acceptance.
This, though, was not spotted by the camera crew who turned up to film the comedic speech, all of which was spoken by Murray and included:
"We're awash with emotion, we're aghast."
Meanwhile, the band sat and remained silent, except for bursting into hysterics at the clearly-sarcastic quotes made by Murray.

Modfather Huge Fan of Powerful 'Monkeys |
|
Ex Jam front man and legendary Modfather Paul Weller has revealed he is also a huge fan of Arctic Monkeys - and he loves their attitude.
Arctic Monkeys have did everything their own way and when they turned down appearing on Top Of The Pops to play either of their two number one singles, "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" and "When The Sun Goes Down"
Weller said:
"[They've] fucked off loads of people. They have done it on their own terms.
"Fucked off Top Of The Pops and done their own thing. It's powerful."
The legendary Modfather was last night awarded a special Brit Award for his own "Outstanding Contribution To Music". |

Arctic Monkeys win Best British Breakthrough Act |
|
It's official - Arctic Monkeys are the Best British Breakthrough Act of 2024.
With strict competition from the likes of the Magic Numbers, Kaiser Chiefs and James Blunt, Arctic Monkeys were obviously shocked to receive the award. According to brits.co.uk:
"We're awash with emotion, we're aghast." they wibbled.
The awards took place today (Feb 15) and will be broadcast in the UK tomorrow at 8pm on ITV1.
Arctic Monkeys are currently in Portsmouth as part of the NME Awards Tour, and were therefore unavailable to accept the award in person. A pre-recorded message (apparently controversial) was shown. |

"Arctic Monkeys Are The Greatest Band In The World" - Chris Martin |
|
Coldplay front man Chris Martin has sensationally hailed Arctic Monkeys as the "Greatest band in the world".
While appearing on Chris Moyles' Radio 1 breakfast show, speaking about the Brit Awards and which bands he likes, Martin replied:
"Obviously the Arctic Monkeys are the greatest band in the world."
However, the singer's request to have some of the Arctic Monkeys' music played was rejected by Moyles - only because it was strictly a "Solo Artist" session. |

Music Section Revamped |
|
Just another site announcement. As most of you know, we were mentioned in Zoo Magazine, in which the article focused on our website's downloads.
We have also had several complaints in the past about our music section being hard to navigate and that it looks fairly cluttered, so we decided to try and neaten the place up.
As you can see, our Music Downloads page has been categorized into Demos, Live Audio and a new Interviews/Misc page.
Several additional downloads have been added to go along with the new revamp so we hope you all enjoy them and find it easier to navigate your way around the section.
Check out The Music Downloads Page
As always, feel free to leave comments and suggestions below. |
