Jack White Loves Arctic Monkeys |
|
Jack White, one half of legendary rock duo White Stripes and guitarist from The Raconteurs has declared his love for the Arctic Monkeys.
Speaking to MTV.co.uk, he said:
"I love the Arctic Monkeys. Who doesn't? I'd love to see them live, but haven't got round to it yet. I never get to see bands because I'm never in the same town for more than two seconds."
This isn't the first time Mr. White has stated he likes the Sheffield lads. When touring the UK with the White Stripes last year he mentioned 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' as being his current favourite track.
He also said jokingly that he would like to "work" with the band, saying:
"We'll start with the gardening and move on to the housework."
Funny man. |

'Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys' EP |
|
NME have revealed the full details of the new Arctic Monkeys EP which will contain five tracks - four of them brand new.
The new EP entitled 'Who the Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys' will be released on April 24 - only three months after their hugely successful debut album.
Already released on the LP back in January, 'The View From the Afternoon' will lead the EP and will be followed by four brand new songs.
The Tracklisting is as follows:
1. The View From The Afternoon
2. Cigarette Smoker Fiona
3. Departure Lounge
4. No Buses
5. Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys
So, although little to no details of these songs have been revealed yet, we can assume 'Cigarette Smoker Fiona' may be a newly edited version of old demo 'Cigarette Smoke' which is still among the top favourite tracks with Arctic Monkeys fans everywhere. And if the title doesn't say enough, Arctic Monkeys friend/legend/fan Queueman stated there is a line "Cigarette Smoke in Fiona's Eyes" in the song.
'From Despair To The Departure Lounge' was played solely by Alex in San Francisco on March 13 after bassist Andy's instrument temporarily failed, and details were given that the track was called 'Despair In The Departure Lounge' and a video download was made available here at Mardy Bum (Click Here) so it's pretty obvious that "Despair In The" has been replaced with "From Despair To The", although the official website does have the title as 'Despair In The Departure Lounge' as the title.
Fourth track 'No Buses' has never been mentioned but in an interview during the NME Awards tour, Alex mentioned that a reworking and renaming of old demo 'Wavin' Bye To the Train or Bus' had been made.
'Who the Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys' was mentioned at the bottom of a Guardian article on the band way back on January 1, even before the release of 'When the Sun Goes Down' single and 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' album. Click Here to view it.
But what sets up more anticipation than anything else is the fact that we are still yet to hear recorded versions of the following, which were all tipped to be on the new EP:
- Leaving Before The Lights Come On - now a regular in the Arctic Monkeys live setlist.
- Do Me A Favour' - a follow-up of the girl in 'Mardy Bum'
- Three Episodes Where Someone Else Got In The Way
- I Wish You Would Have Smiled In The Bakery
