Ewan McGregor Unimpressed by Arctic Monkeys |
|
At Last - a celebrity who doesn't like Arctic Monkeys!
Scottish Hollywood actor Ewan McGregor had the following to say on everybody's favourite new band:
"I don't like them and I don't know why all the other bands are singing their praises."
Now, we're not saying Ewan McGregor has to like the Arctic Monkeys, but it'll be amusing to see if anymore celebrities are quick to jump on the anti-arctic bandwagon. |

Reverend And The Makers - Spread The Word! |
|
We just thought we would let you all know that the Reverend John Rarsclart, also known as the shadowy "fifth member" of Arctic Monkeys, and good friend of the lads, now has his own musical material for you to download - free.
the Reverend's band is called "Reverend And The Makers" and shortly after the official website - www.iamreverend.com - recently launched, the demos managed to found their way online too.
There are currently 4 demos to download, including a song titled "Bandits" featuring Tim from Bromhead's Jacket assisting on vocals.
So, since we believe we have a big enough fan base here at Mardy Bum to make some impact, we decided to give the Reverend and his Makers their own little site announcement... SO SPREAD THE WORD, PEOPLE! |

Arctic Monkeys Debuts in US and AUS |
|
Arctic Monkeys have entered the Australian album charts at number #1 and the US charts at a respectable number #24 in the US.
The album almost sold 34,000 in the US, which, for a band's debut release who havent even stepped foot on American soil to promote the album by official press, prior to it's release, is quite an achievement. Even "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" won't be played on the radio until 6 March.
And as mentioned, in Australia, the band rocketed to number one in their debut week. |

Arctic Monkeys to Release EP in April? |
|
Sick of waiting for the next Arctic Monkeys release, even though the last was only in the end of January? Well according to Arctic Monkeys Jamie and Andy in this week's NME, the next release could be an EP containing all new songs!
From NME Magazine:
You've been in the studio today...(awards day)
Jamie: "We came straight from the studio. We're doing an EP for the next single, whenever it's gonna be. It's gonna be new 'uns."
Andy: "We're gonna finish the new songs, then we're gonna play 'em live and we're gonna stick 'em on a CD. It's probably gonna be an extended player. I'm not joking, five songs, and it's hopefully gonna be out in April. Fingers crossed."
The only previous EP the band have released is "Five Minutes With Arctic Monkeys" back in May 2005.

Arctic Monkeys on NME Cover...Again |
|
Arctic Monkeys are once again features on the cover of NME. This is the FOURTH time they have been the main feature on the magazine since October 2005.
But as long as they're in, we'll keep reading, right?
The cover isn't totally based on the lads, but does feature "King Monkey" himself, Ian Brown. The issue also contains a free 12 track CD containg tracks of winners from the 2024 NME Awards - though no Arctic Monkeys.
